Spectral sensing theatres a vital role in radar system and cognitive radio communications for detecting power, owing to its self-sufficient characteristics and minimal computational demands. To minimize the rate of sampling, a finite impulse response (FIR) filter was implemented to prevent interference in the down sampling stage. in this paper ,We provide a thorough analysis of how the length of the FIR filter affects spectral sensing effectiveness at varying signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) levels, cut-off frequencies, and stopband attenuation. The results from the simulation indicate while increasing the filter length diminishes out-of-band interference and false alarms, sharpens the cut-off frequency transition, and enhances stopband attenuation to mitigate interference , it also leads to a rise in delay time. This increase in time hampers the sensor's ability to make fast decisions and lowers the detection probability ( ). From the findings, the ideal length of the filter is identified as the one that meets this specific condition L=N/10.
