Abstract

This paper included a statistical analysis of information in the electronic version of the Medina Mushaf  with the narration of Qalun on the authority of Nafi’, where the symbols used in writing the Holy Quran were identified, and they were divided into four groups according to the similarity in the drawing method and the function performed by these symbols. The main concepts of information theory were used to measure the information content of each of these symbols, and calculate the source entropy of the Holy Quran. The results were placed in illustrative tables that help estimate the degree of impact of each symbol in the data compression process .
